RFA is the preferred treatment for varicose veins. It’s a minimally invasive thermal treatment that utilizes radio frequency to heat up and damage the wall inside a vein. This forms scar tissue which closes the vein. To direct radiofrequency, We uses a thin tube (catheter) that is inserted through a small incision in the vein. You will be able to walk following the treatment and recovery time is typically short.
During the procedure a thin tube (catheter) is inserted into the vein through a small incision. One session usually lasts for 45-60 minutes. The whole treatment including time to prepare and recover takes about 1 to 3 hours. You might feel a mild discomfort that can be relieved by wearing compression stocking after the procedure.
There is a little to no downtime with RFA. You can return to regular activity the same day. We recommend to avoid strenuous activity for a week.
You will start to feel better in about 7 to 10 days after the procedure. It can take up to 2-3 weeks to see complete results.
This usually depends on the extent of the disease. Typically, We recommends several treatment sessions. Most patients feel relief after 1-3 sessions.
